St. Kilda ~ what a wonderful place!

Believe it or not, despite being here for almost a year now, when i stepped off tram No.16 today, it was my very first time at the St. Kilda beach. And seriously, if not for my friend who lives there, I would never have discovered this land of beauty and paradise.
A honeymoon area, people are just so laid back and everything in St. Kilda has pretty much the label "holiday" on them. After a long chat with an elderly, I had to decline his offer to go for coffee with him because my friend was already waiting for me by the pier. Saying goodbye to the Greek immigrant - now Aussie old chap, I was greeted by the smile of my coursemate. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the open sea while waiting for another friend to arrive.
Since the main purpose for our get together was lunch, we conveniently walked into a restaurant by the beach for some tasty pasta. Although slightly more pricy than the average meal, the ambiance and service certainly deserved every single cent. As we chatted away, I could not help looking beyond our table, into the beach where lifesaving training was being held. Oh, I forgot to mention - St. Kilda beach is the place for guy-rating - if you're up to it...
Before we knew it, two hours had passed, and we decided to head off to the pier, taking a long stroll all the way to the end. It was certainly a good idea after the heavy italian cuisine.
Then of course, what's a girl's day out without some feel of shopping? Browsing through some very artistic and creative things at the small shops, it was certainly a whole brand new feel to shopping. There were items from vintage clothings, all the way to imported Indian and buddhist incense. There was even a shop that sold funny bouncy balls that lit up when they were bounced, and a little 'swimming man' about the size of a palm, which actually swims when placed into the water. And then of course, a whole selection of cakes and pastries which we did not taste due to our stomach capacity.
Overall, St. Kilda is a place of paradise and full of wonders. If you ever have a chance to visit this place, squeeze in a few hours to do so because it is sure to be an experience of a lifetime.
